Detasemen Khusus 88 Anti Teror (Densus 88 AT) Polri, a special police counterterrorism unit, conducted a search at the residence of a suspected terrorist in Sukabumi. During the operation, the police seized a pen-shaped firearm. The house belonged to a man identified as HJ (56), who was one of the suspected terrorists arrested in Desa Jayaratu, Sariwangi District, Tasikmalaya Regency. The search took place in Sukamaju Village, Nyalindung District, Sukabumi Regency, on Saturday (December 28, 2024) from 09:00 to 14:00 WIB, and was conducted in conjunction with the Indonesian National Police Forensic Laboratory (Inafis).
At least 32 pieces of evidence were confiscated, including a pistol with bullets, radicalism-related books, and a pen that doubled as a firearm. All the seized items were taken to the Sukamaju Village office for identification before being handed over to the authorities.
Hendri Gustiawan, the Sukamaju Village Secretary, revealed, “I saw 32 pieces of evidence, including a type of pistol - I’m not sure if it’s a soft gun - several bullets, a pen that looks like a bullet, and books on jihad and legal foundations.”
According to information received by Hendri, the suspected terrorist was involved with the NII (Negara Islam Indonesia) network and did not serve as an executor. “According to the conversation with Densus, he was previously associated with NII. So, he was not part of the operational team, just a bureaucratic position like a four-star general in the government,” he explained.
